MEPhI has entered top 400 of the overall ranking of the best universities(link is external) in the world – U.S. News Best Global Universities 2020 (388th place in the world and second in Russia). Compared to last year, MEPhI's result has improved by 31 positions. This year, the overall ranking included the evaluation of 1500 best universities in the world.

In Physics(link is external) subject ranking, MEPhI placed 51st in the world (second place among all Russian universities). In this ranking, MEPhI increased its result by 25 positions.

In addition, for the first time, MEPhI entered the subject rankings of the U.S. News Best Global Universities in the fields of Chemistry and Engineering.

The U.S. News Best Global Universities has been ranking American universities for more than 30 years; since 2014, it has also been published in an international format.  The study includes universities that are either ranked in the top 250 by the Clarivate Analytics reputation survey, or published at least 1,500 scientific papers over a five-year period (2013-2017). The assessment of universities is based on 13 indicators measuring the research work of universities and their reputation in the academic community.
