The University has opened a collective work space "Boiling Point – Obninsk" with the support of the Agency for strategic initiatives, the Administration of Kaluga region and the city of Obninsk, as well as the Agency for innovative development - center for cluster development of Kaluga region.

Minister of economic development of Kaluga region Dmitry Razumovsky, vice-rector of MEPhI Tatiana Leonova, Deputy Director of the Young professionals section of the Agency for strategic initiatives Andrey Siling, Duma deputy Gennady Sklyar, Professor of practice at the Moscow school of management SKOLKOVO, member of the Expert Council of ASI Pavel Luksha and other guests took part in the work of the "Boiling Point" on the first day. In the framework of the opening ceremony, an Agreement was signed between MEPhI and the Agency for strategic initiatives.

Minister of economic development of Kaluga region Dmitry Razumovsky in his welcoming speech said: "Opening of "Boiling Point– Obninsk" is a landmark event. Kaluga region has reached a stage in its growth, when it is impossible to make a qualitatively new breakthrough in the development of the economy without human capital. The huge reserve created in the last 10-15 years, taking into account the growth of investment activity, has become the foundation that allows us to create a new economy based on knowledge. The task of "Boiling Point" is the consolidation of plans and thoughts aimed primarily at the development of our region."

According to the vice-rector of MEPhI Tatiana Leonova, "it is an optimal solution to create "Boiling Point" in the University. The University is a place where the most incredible, sometimes crazy ideas are born in student minds. "Boiling point-Obninsk" will allow ideas to formalize into projects and give them the opportunity to develop." Tatyana Leonova expressed the hope that soon a great number of the organizations and enterprises, people with interesting plans will come to "Boiling Point – Obninsk" and will begin to involve youth in work.

Deputy Director of the direction Young professionals at ASI Andrey Siling told about the principles and advantages of the "Boiling Point" space: "Young professionals" has been long working with such a category as the future. It is formed by daily efforts here and now, but a special environment is needed for the competent formation of thoughts. "Boiling point" is a place where everything is organized for communication, where it is possible to establish links between those environments and communities that do not intersect in everyday life."

For two opening days "Boiling Point - Obninsk" was visited by nearly 600 people. The participants came at the panel discussion "Digital agglomeration:  step in the future development of territories", lecture of Pavel Luksha "How to build your future: competences, projects, community, environment", a presentation of the roadmap for the National Technological Initiative in the Kaluga region in the directions of HealthNet and EnergyNet, session "WorldSkills and AtomSkills competitions and high-tech sectors: how to increase high-tech exports in Kaluga region".

Sberbank held a business game for young people "DigitalYoungLAB" in the framework of the project #DigitalYoung. Visitors of the "Boiling Point - Obninsk" had an opportunity to participate in master classes from the “Intellect of the future" company, presentation of the Atlas of new professions, a master class on robotics, Philosophical Battle, strategic sessions and presentation of the project on the development of blockchain technology, round tables and a two-day marathon of technical specialists "Atomic Neuroton". It is worth to note that the winner of the "Nuclear Neurotron" was the team of INPE MEPhI "DIRIZHABL 404". The second and third place went to the MEPhI team from Moscow – "MEPhI WS1" and "WS2 MEPhI", respectively. The winning teams were awarded with certificates from the M-Video store, which were provided by one of the organizers of the Neurotron – Technolab Academy.
