MEPhI becomes member of National platform "Open education"

MEPhI has been among the universities - member of the Association "National platform "Open education" according to the decision of the general meeting of the Association members.

The national platform "Open education" (openedu.ru) is an authoritative educational resource created for the development of online education in Russian universities. Unlike foreign online platforms, "Open education" is primarily focused on the Russian educational system, providing new opportunities to Russian students, regardless of their place of residence and distance from the leading scientific and educational centers.

"Open education" provides students access to courses of leading University lecturers and the opportunity to receive training at the highest level within the walls of their University. It makes quality education more accessible.

All courses of the platform are developed in accordance with the requirements of federal state educational standards and can be included in the educational programs of any Russian University. Today, the platform hosts 322 courses of leading Russian universities in different areas of training.

MEPhI has extensive experience in online education, actively cooperates with the leading international online education platforms Coursera and edX and CLP4NET professional online nuclear education platform. More than 400 courses, which are actively used by partner universities and the regional network of the University, are placed on the educational portal of MEPhI.

As a member of the Association, the University plans to promote the introduction of a digital educational environment, improve the quality and accessibility of education in the regions of the Russian Federation.

The vice-rector of MEPhI Elena Vesna said that in 2019, MEPhI planned to upload on the platform a series of courses of leading scientists and teachers in the field of general physics, nuclear physics, biomedicine, cryptography and machine learning, commercialization of technologies and other areas.

"We plan to use the opportunities of the online platform not only to help regional universities, which often experience a shortage of highly qualified personnel, but also to expand cooperation with leading universities, providing our students with access to the best courses of partner universities. It also contributes to the quality of education and stimulates the development of healthy competition among teachers,” said Elena Vesna.
