On January 15, the British rating agency Times Higher Education (THE) has published results of the ranking of universities in countries with rapidly developing economies – THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2019.

This year, the National Nuclear Research University MEPhI has taken 16th place in the ranking (in 2018 – 19th place) and 3rd place among all Russian universities (in the first place – Lomonosov State University).

Commenting on the results, the rector of MEPhI M.N. Strikhanov said: "The improvement of the MEPhI’s position in the TOP-20 of the Emerging Economies University Rankings 2019 is based, firstly, on close cooperation with the industry and nuclear technology – the Rosatom State Corporation. Also it is connected with the improvement of the education quality, development of new research areas, strengthening of internationalization at the University, increasing its recognition in the world academic environment; important contribution to this result is given by the strategic academic units – institutes created at MEPhI more than two years ago. Of course, the driver of the University development is its participation in the Project 5-100".

THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018 comprises 450 universities from 43 countries, including  Brazil, China, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Pakistan, Poland, Qatar, etc. The ranking is based on the 13 performance indicators grouped into five areas: teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income.
