MEPhI students to receive award from Moscow Government for victory in first Intercollegiate Championship WorldSkills Russia

The Moscow Government will provide the winners of the First National Intercollegiate Championship "Young Professionals" (WorldSkills Russia) with a financial reward. For the gold medal students will receive 400 thousand rubles, for silver – 300 thousand, and for bronze – 200 thousand.

On January 25, Moscow mayor Sergey Sobyanin signed a decree on payments. The mayor awarded the winners of the First National Intercollegiate Championship WorldSkills standards in the State Central Concert Hall "Rossiya" at the event dedicated to the Russian Students Day.

The championship was held in Russia for the first time. The final was held in the capital from November 28 to December 1, 2017. According to the results of the qualifying stages in the regions, 365 students reached the final, including 68 students from 13 Moscow universities

The National Research Nuclear University MEPhI became the leader of the medal standings of the final.

In the medal standings of the Intercollegiate Championship includes higher education institutions from 24 regions of Russia. 27 medals were won by students of higher education institutions from Moscow, 13 – Chelyabinsk region, and teams of higher education institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan and Tyumen region won 7 medals each.

The University competition for professional skills is the third championship direction that WorldSkills Russia develops. In addition, there are competitions within the traditional branch – among students of colleges and technical schools (age 16-22 years). There is also a branch of sectorial championships. The largest of them – WorldSkillsHi–Tech – is held annually in Yekaterinburg and gathers young workers from 18 to 28 years – winners of corporate championships, which during the year took place at the production sites of the largest Russian companies. Two other championships DigitalSkills and AgroSkills focus on the IT sector and agribusiness.
