The National Research Nuclear University MEPhI has entered the top 150 of the best universities in the world (131th position), shown the third result among the participants of the Project 5-100.
Results of the first edition of the Moscow International University Ranking "Three University Missions" were presented on December, 11. The study involved 348 universities from 39 countries.
The leader of the rating among Russian universities is the Lomonosov Moscow State University (25). In total the top-200 of the rating includes 13 higher education institutions of the country.
The Moscow International University Ranking is a fundamentally new academic ranking, which assesses all three core missions of a university: education (45%), research (25%) and for the first time in rankings practice – interaction of the University with the community (30%). The rating uses a number of new criteria relying on objective data and eliminating subjective reputational surveys. The expert council of the rating includes 25 experts from 12 countries.
The formation of the rating was initiated by the Russian Union of Rectors in accordance with the instructions of the Russian President Vladimir Putin. The operator of ranking is the Association of Ratings Creators, which members are the leading rating and research centres ("Expert RA", Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM), "Reputation" and others).
“Presence of 13 Russian universities among the 200 world leading universities is evidence of the serious success of the Russian higher school, because any concessions to the Russian universities had been excluded in the preparation of the Moscow International Ranking. The rating is based on approved by foreign experts criteria, in which Russia doesn’t have obvious advantages. It used the public accountability of universities and data from independent foreign sources,” the official website of the ranking quoted the General Director of the Association of Ratings Creators Dmitry Grishankov.
