Russian rating agency Round University Ranking (RUR) has published six substantive ratings in the humanities, social, biological, medical, natural and technical sciences.

The National Research Nuclear University MEPhI has rosen over the year by 30 positions and took the 1st place among Russian universities in RUR ranking on natural sciences (115th place in the list of this rating).

RUR rating for natural sciences includes 31 Russian Universities. Besides MEPhI, the top 200 includes: Tomsk State University (139th place), Moscow State University (164th place), Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (189th  place) and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (199th place).

The top-100 of RUR rating includes only one Russian University – the Moscow State University, which took 81th place in the list for the humanities.

Russian universities took the highest positions in subject rankings in engineering sciences – 37 institutions of higher education. 29 national universities are in the list for social sciences. 22 Russian universities are in the biological sciences. Humanities and medical sciences ranking include the least number of Russian universities – 11 and 7 respectively.

MEPhI has entered the top 100 for the “quality of teaching” criterion in two substantive ratings – natural and technical sciences.

This criterion takes into account the international reputation of the University in teaching, number of students and bachelor graduates per faculty and the number of degrees per faculty and degrees per one graduate-bachelor.

RUR has been producing ratings since 2010 which are based on 20 criteria, divided into four groups: teaching quality, financial sustainability of universities, research and international diversity (the number of foreign students, teachers, works in collaboration with foreign authors).
