“I have entered MEPhI!” now these words can be said by 512 new tuition-free students, who have joined one of the leading Russian universities in engineering education. MEPhI has successfully completed the admission campaign for intramural full-time studies in bachelor and specialist degrees.
More than a third of enrolled guys are the winners of relevant Olympiads, and it is despite the fact that they needed to confirm the victory scoring 75 points at the exam. It should be noted that the number of Olympiad winners, who are coming to MEPhI, has constantly been growing, over the past three years the number of such enrollees has increased by 13%.
Almost every second enrollee (45%) has a high school diploma with honors. A significant percentage of new students are graduates of the MEPhI Preuniversity as well as schools, which collaborate with the University – the effectiveness of this interaction is confirmed by the training of young people who are strong and motivated to receive engineering education.
Therefore it is not surprising that the majority of enrolled students demonstrated a clear focus on education in MEPhI. During the Admissions applicants often expressed a sincere desire to be enrolled in the University even if they had already had a guaranteed admission to another University. The popularity and demand for the University was also confirmed by the fact that most of the applicants, despite the ability to apply to five institutions of higher education, brought the original documents in MEPhI without hesitation.
Such an interest in the University is quite predictable. The University takes the leading positions in the higher education system of the country, providing its graduates with a successful future. By the way, according to the monitoring of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI is one of five universities whose graduates are most in demand.
One of the key achievements is the increase in the average score of the unified state exam. This year it has significantly increased again: 90.5 points compared to 89 points of the last year. The average score has increased for almost all areas/specialties.
For the second consecutive year MEPhI has been enrolling students according the new academic structure – into the Institutions that are focused on training in promising breakthrough directions of science. The opening of new unique, including bilingual, programs, involvement of world-known scientists in the teaching process, cutting-edge research within these divisions have attracted strong students to the University – the average exam score has grown significantly. In particular, in PhysBio it has increased from 87,09 to 90,2, in LAPLAS – from 89,83 to 90.3, in ICIS – from 90,8 to 92,2.
Following the Admission campaign, the most tuition-free students were enrolled in the Institute of Cyber Intelligent Systems. And the most popular specialties among University entrants in 2017 are “Nuclear stations: design, operation and engineering”, “Applied mathematics and physics”, “Electronics and nanoelectronics”, “Laser engineering and laser technologies”.
