15.05.2017

A stable trend of recent years in higher education of our country is the improvement of quantitative and qualitative indicators in recruitment of applicants to technical universities. Currently, leading universities do not experience major problems with the recruitment of applicants for the first year. There is struggle for a strong, well-prepared entrant throughout Russia.

For MEPhI such work is a priority. Along with traditional channels of interaction with schoolchildren, such as Open door days, vocational guidance activities in schools, participation in educational exhibitions, etc., the university conducts many schools and contests, allowing to single out and attract best graduates of schools of the country to the university.

As part of this work in the city of Lesnoy MEPhI conducted the Ural Physics and Mathematics School of MEPhI for gifted schoolchildren, one of the goals of which is the preparation of schoolchildren in the Sverdlovsk region to participate in the physical high-level Olympiads. After the first Ural school last year the number of participants in the Engineering Olympiad of schoolchildren and Olympiad "Rosatom" in Lesnoy increased more than one and a half times.

This year, the school's students were 88 schoolchildren of 9-11 grades from Russia. Several students of the school were the winners and prizewinners of MEPhI Olympiads of the current year.

The school's program was designed to help eleventh-graders show good results in Examination in mathematics and physics, and prepare them to take part in the math and physics olympiads.
