On April 26, the International Friendship Club "MEPhI Unity" has organized and hosted one of the brightest student events of the year – the International Festival "My Country". This event, which has already become traditional, is held with the aim of enhancing the culture of international and interethnic relations among the university's students, accustoming to the traditions of national cultures through creativity.

The festival provided a unique chance to feel the original culture of different corners of the world, to plunge into the national color of the countries of near and far abroad. Students told about the history and traditions of their countries, demonstrated their national costumes, offered to taste dishes of their cuisine and, of course, gave interesting creative numbers – national songs and dances.

The International Friendship Club "MEPhI Unity" was founded in 2014. Student self-government indeed united the most interesting people from different parts of the world within our university and provided opportunities for mutual dialogue, development and, of course, friendship.

According to Murad Khasanov, the club's chairman, the main goal of the organization is to help integrate foreign students into the life of the university. "The biggest obstacle is, of course, the language barrier, but over time members of the club improve their knowledge of the Russian language. There is also a problem of fear of students to communicate with each other – both foreigners and Russian speakers. We all should be friendly, and then there is no obstacle for us. Our university is one big family."

Today MEPhI unites about 1000 students from more than 30 different countries of the world. Knowledge of the cultural and ethnic characteristics of different countries helps young people in the process of communication to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts.
