On March, 18, an Open Door Day for enrollees of Master’s degree and PhD programs has been held in MEPhI. Not only our university students, but also people from other institutes became the guests of the event.
The existence of Master’s and PhD degrees is an obligatory condition of our university’s entering of international educational space. The education of Master’s and PhD students is conducted in MEPhI in a wide range of leading directions in science and technics, management and economy of high technologies.
Today MEPhI offers its enrollees a possibility of education in 76 educational Master’s degree programs in 23 directions of training, and 15 directions of training for PhDs. For 2017 708 state-supported places have been allocated for Master’s degree students and 151 for PhD students.
Welcoming guests, university vice-rector V.V.Uzhva said that the university has come through significant changes for the past 2 years: “We switched from faculties to Institutes, and it has been done to unite education and science.” The contest this year will be held in directions of training, and the enrollment will be conducted for created strategic academic units, Institutes. He stressed that directions of training of Master’s and PhD degrees directions of training are distributed between MEPhI Institutes and faculties. “We open our doors for those who wish to come to our university from other universities, but, for sure, we will be glad to see graduates of our Bachelor’s degree.”
Representatives of university Institutes and faculties told in detail about topics of scientific research, peculiarities of studying in MEPhI, international programs of student exchange, laboratory base and teachers, key partners and prospects of employment for graduates of Master’s degree and PhD.
During the events presentations of the Institute of Nuclear Physics and Engineering, Institute for Laser and Plasma Technologies, Institute of Engineering Physics for Biomedicine, Institute of Nanoengineering in Electronics, Spintronics and Photonics; Institute of Cyber Intelligence Systems, Institute of financial and economic security, Institute of international relations, Faculty of Physics and Technology, Faculty of business informatics and complex systems management were held.
Studying in MEPhI for Master’s and PhD degree allows conduct internship and production practice in leading Russian and foreign scientific centers, such as RSC “Kurchatov Institute”, Lebedev Institute, the University of Texas, the University of Maryland (the USA), the University California, San Diego; largest European scientific centre Forschungszentrum in Jülich (Germany), University of Twente in Holland, Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) and others.
At the end of the meeting the Head of Master’s degree department in MEPhI N.V.Lukianova informed about rules of admission in 2017, required documents and individual achievements, which will be considered for the enrollment to Master’s degree.
The necessary condition for the enrollment is the absence of documents’ principals about higher education at the admission office.
After the official part all who wished could ask MEPhI representatives questions, thoroughly discuss modern education programs, visit university laboratories and scientific centers.
