Russian President Vladimir Putin has granted awards in the field of science and innovations for young scientists for 2016. The solemn ceremony took place in Ekaterina Hall in the Kremlin.

The awards of the Russian President have been set up in 2008 and are given for results of scientific research in the field of natural, technical, and humanitarian sciences, and for the development of the samples of new equipment and up-to-date technologies, which guarantee innovative development in of economy and social sphere, strengthen country’s defensibility.

Among people, awarded for the research of quark-gluon matter at mega-science facilities of Europe, there is a scientist from  the NRC "Kurchatov Institute", who is also an engineer at the MEPhI Department of Condensed Matter Physics Dmitriy Blau.

Laureates of Presidential award for 2016 in science and innovations for young scientists. Dmitriy Blau is second from the left.

Dmitriy is in international working group MEPhI-GSI on research of physics of collisions of relativistic heavy ions under the supervision of Associate Professor at the Department of Condensed Matter Physics Arkadiy Taranenko. One of the main directions of the group research work is the research of collective flows in nucleus-nucleus collisions at experiments in CERN (Switzerland), BNL (the USA), and future facilities at FAIR (Germany) and NICA (Russia).

According to MEPhI Department №67 Associate Professor Ilya Selyuzhenkov, who has for several years supervised working groups on the research of collective flows in international collaborations ALICE in CERN and CBM at FAIR, research, in which Dmitriy Blau has participated since the start of his scientific career, has become the basis of the long-term cooperation.

Today, active joint works are held on preparation of future mega-science facility CBM at FAIR in Germany. By the topic of joint research with MEPhI group GSI, which is in the basis of physical program of a mega-science project CBM at FAIR, in 2017 Dmitriy Blau for the second time became the winner of the contest of the Research centre FAIR-Russia.

“As the Head of the working groups on the research of collective flows in international collaborations ALICE at LHC and CBM at FAIR, I am very glad that the topics of international research at MEPhI are highly estimated by Russian President Vladimir Putin,” said Ilya Selyuzhenkov.
