The main directions of assessment of higher education institutions, considered in the ranking, remained, as in the past year: the employers’ demand for trained specialists, commercialization of intellectual products, produced by the university, and academic relevance of the organization’s scientific product.

Head of the project "Social Navigator" MIA "ROSSIYA SEGODNYA" Natalia Turina told about the most popular universities among employers with the focus on the real economy, and the ones, which have lost their positions in the ranking. According to her, many universities have lost grounds in the second indicator. "The only university which demonstrated the dynamics in all three indicators is MEPhI," said Natalia Turina.

According to the expert, this study provokes an increased interest not only among employers, but also among students who are making their choice of professional field.

The ranking has also showed that the quality education in demand is available not only in Moscow, but also in the Russian regions. At the same time, according to Natalia Turina, in modern conditions universities should, on the one hand, turn in the direction of the labor market and the employer, and, on the other, conduct serious professional work with high school students.

Discussing the results of the ranking, research supervisor of the Volga branch of the Federal Institute of Education Development Yefim Kogan argued that in modern conditions the connection of universities with enterprises of the market economy is possible only in the presence of the market behavior of the universities. "Organizations, designed for work in one direction, can not be effective in others. The transformation of the university is required. They should become entrepreneurial university ".

According to the expert, the universities are the union of the intellectual resources of the territory, and efficient use of this resource would benefit everyone.

Executive Director of the National Training Foundation Irina Arzhanova set MEPhI out of other universities. "MEPhI today is a real leader, that in most of the indicators, and, above all, in science is very powerful and fast moving."

In his speech, MEPhI First Pro-rector Oleg Nagornov noted that three factors, considered in the ranking, have been successfully selected. "Firstly, I see a very significant correlation with known international ratings. Secondly, all the factors are transparent and verifiable here. It is good that this tradition is preserved. "

At the end of discussions, the head of the project "Social Navigator" (as a part of MIA "ROSSIYA SEGODNYA") Natalia Turina identified the leaders of the study. MEPhI got the certificate of "The leader of the ranking of Russian universities in demand" in the category "Engineering universities".
