VII All-Russian conference of young scientists and specialists’ councils held in MEPhI

The VII All-Russian meeting of Councils of young scientists and specialists "Personnel challenge for the knowledge society" began on November, 30 in MEPhI.

The meeting was opened by a plenary debate, which was attended by Head of the Department of science and technology of the Office of Research and Educational Policy of the Russian Federation Presidential Administration Denis Sekirinski, First Deputy Head of the Federal Agency of scientific organizations Alexey Medvedev, rector of MEPhI Mikhail Strikhanov, the Head of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation Sergey Salikhov, Rector of the Skolkovo Institute of science and technology Alexander Kuleshov and the Head of N.D. Zelinsky Institute of organic chemistry Valentin Ananikov.

The moderator of the panel discussion was the chairman of the Foundation “Center for Strategic Research "North-West" Vladimir Knyaginin.

The discussion began with the Strategy for Research and Technological Development (RTD) of Russia. Denis Sekirinski noted that this document describes approaches to the solution of existing problems in the field of scientific management, considering the great challenges that our country faces today, and that it will face in the future.

Also Denis S. highlighted some of the key points of the document and its fundamental difference. First and foremost, it reflects a consensus among decision-makers, and professional experts. "In fact, this is the only path that can move our country, so the document was equated in status to the national security strategy." In addition, it is mandatory for implementation by all public authorities of our country and the subjects of the Russian Federation.

The basis of the scientific and technological development of Russia is personnel. According to Denis Sekirinski, the basic structure requires some adjustments and should largely be responsible for the implementation of the Strategy.

Addressing the participants of the Congress, Mikhail Strikhanov noted the importance of this event: "Our university has once again served as a platform, hosting all scientists of the country."

Regarding the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of Russia, he stressed that after the adoption of the document is to "a strict plan for its implementation should appear" with the long-term prospect of 25-30 years and short-term - 1-2 years.

According to MEPhI rector, the career of a scientists and career of the university teacher should be attractive for young people. "Attraction is made by simple factors - salary, perks, interesting work."
