In Moscow on November 29, the final events of Career Days of the State Corporation "Rosatom" were held in MEPhI – a large-scale project, which the State Corporation "Rosatom" held in conjunction with MEPhI and Rosatom Corporate Academy for already the seventh year in a row.
The aim of the event was to attract the best graduates of technical universities in Russia to companies of the nuclear industry.
The start of the Career Days was given by the Head of the "Rosatom" State Corporation educational programs V.V. Karezin. He noted that to hold Career Days for the seventh time in MEPhI is for the State Corporation "a great honor and a great responsibility." Therefore, the organizers have thought carefully about the program, have prepared a number of thematic competitions, quizzes and "quests".
Welcoming the participants and guests at the opening of the University Career Days, Pro-rector for educational and methodical work MEPhI E.B. Vesna stated impressive figures showing the demand for the event. This year, online applications for participation in the Career Days were sent by more than 4,000 students and graduates, representing 80 leading Russian universities (Moscow State University, Bauman MSTU, HSE, MGIMO , TPU, Ural Federal University, South Ural State University, Novosibirsk State Technical University and others). This is 1.5 times more than in previous years. For full-time participation the territory of the University received more than 3200 visitors. Approximately the same number of regional participants connected to the individual events (lectures and panel discussions) via online broadcasting.
The central event of Rosatom's Career Day was the lecture of the General Director of the State Corporation "Rosatom" A. E. Likhachev. More than 30 organizations, including supporting universities of the State Corporation "Rosatom” and regional branches of MEPhI, connected to the online broadcast of it. In a form of active dialogue with students, faculty and staff of the University the Head of the state corporation told about the future of the nuclear industry. A.E. Likhachev paid special attention to what experts, in his view, Rosatom needs today. He emphasized that the hallmark of employees of the nuclear industry is a good education. Expressing confidence that MEPhI provides its students with a quality education, he suggested that in addition to studying the specialty, great attention should be paid to language skills, which will be a benefit when applying for a job at State Corporation. And in the end of his speech the Head of Rosatom outlined to the students of MEPhI a few basic tasks: to learn and study, often look in the future, be able to work in a team and respect each other.
The job fair as a part of Career Days this year was attended by more than 40 leading enterprises. Their representatives spoke about career opportunities and the benefits of working in the nuclear industry, professional development prospects. A.E. Likhachev noted the positive attitude of job fair staff: young representatives of enterprises and regional divisions of MEPhI, as well as the effectiveness to find the real contenders for the job. He personally talked to the representatives of each department and filled a symbolic invitation to employment, similar to the one filled with students and employers on the basis of interviews.
Within the framework of Career Days «quest» Rosatom Career Game was held, whose members have decided tasks on the modern knowledge of the nuclear industry. During the online-stage they guessed specially invented puzzles, finding answers in scientific articles, audio and video recordings of speeches of representatives of the State Corporation "Rosatom", and in the internal phase were active in quizzes, competitions, creative tasks, prepared by the representatives of nine divisions of the industry. Gleb Dzhalgasbaev (MEPhI) became the winner.
The students at the panel session "Dialogue with the employer" could communicate with young professionals who have recently finished their university, but had already built a successful career. Representatives of Balakovo NPP, JSC "NPO" TSNIITMASH ", FSUE" RFNC-VNIIEF ", JSC" CMP ", JSC" Greenatom ", FSUE" RosRAO " made presentations. In addition, MEPhI Alumni Association organized a meeting with alumni who now occupy senior positions in companies and organizations of the industry. The meeting was attended by Deputy Director of Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" V.I. Shevchenko, Head of research department VNIINM A.A. Bochvar, E.N. Mikheev and director of functional competencies Rosatom Corporate Academy P.V. Kozlov.
The start of "Case-championship" YAROBOT ", whose final will be held on December 16, 2016 was a part of the competition. Director of the Personnel Policy Department of the State Corporation "Rosatom" Dmitry Gasten told participants how to change the methods of formation of personnel competency in the world over the last 10-15 years. He cited many examples of technologies that are changing the educational environment. The case participants were asked to create a prototype of a learning chat bot, which would allow automate the preparation of answers to the most frequently asked questions of the State Corporation employees.
Especially for MEPhI foreign students (more than 1,000 students from 40 countries of the world are enrolled at the university currently) an entertaining "quest" "Global Rosatom" was coined. Teams from seven countries took part in it: Turkey, Bangladesh, Jordan, Vietnam, Egypt, and, of course, Russia. The boys performed tasks on the knowledge of the traditions and cultures of these countries. The winner was the team of Turkey, which has received a certificate for participation in the International Forum of young energy and industrialists "Fast and the Furious".
In addition, a new competition of author's student presentations in the format of "Pecha-Kucha" was held in this year's Career Days. The competition received 42 presentations, 18 of them - from MEPhI. Participants in just two minutes, showing only six slides, needed to make a strong case, showing creativity, logic and high quality design of visual materials. Anastasia Seletkova from MEPhI became the winner.
An intellectual game "Corporation knowledge. Reboot ", organized jointly by MEPhI and VNIIEF, has been organized in the framework of the Days of the career of "Rosatom". The competition was attended by experts of six teams. IICS team MEPhI "Server Lights" were awarded diplomas and valuable gifts from Rosatom, and member of the team Ekaterina Guseva was named the best player of the tournament.
A considerable interest in students was caused by Engineering Competition "Chain Reaction", to participate in which the winners of the qualifying competitions were invited to build a technical construction "Tower - Generator". In the final event, the honor of their university was defended by seven teams. According to the results of a final engineering competition, the team of the Ural Federal University won.
The Career Day ended with a solemn awarding ceremony for the winners of competitions. Prizes and gifts from the State Corporation "Rosatom" were handed by A.E. Likhachev, D.A. Gasten, and V.V. Karezin. They congratulated the winners and expressed the hope to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the MEPhI and State Corporation.
Representatives of enterprises and other guests in MEPhI noted the professional work of the organizers of the event, a friendly atmosphere at the university, an active and coordinated work of student volunteers who helped visitors navigate and quickly and easily find answers to your questions.
A meeting of A.E. Likhachev with the rector of the university, M.N. Strikhanov, was held within Career Days, where current issues and program activities were discussed.
