A scientific-technological cluster of integral radiophotonics will be created in MEPhI on the basis of “Nanotechnologies” centre – this question was discussed at the meeting of the working group of Science and Engineering Board of military-industrial complex.
On October, 18 a meeting of the working group of Science and Engineering Board of military-industrial complex was held in MEPhI. Experts, among which there were representatives of scientific-production enterprises of the RAS, organisations of defence industry complex, “Rosatom” state company, discussed perspectives of creation of scientific-technological cluster of integral radiophotonics on the basis of “Nanotechnologies” centre. Heads of scientific and educational university units, responsible for the direction, took part in the meeting on behalf of MEPhI.
The Head of the working group of Science and Engineering Board of military-industrial complex, supervisor of radiophotonics direction in JSC “RTI” A.N.Shulunov said that Russia, having great scientific potential in the field of photonics, falls behind other countries in the scale of its practical usage.
At the domestic market of our country radiophotonics is not developed in coordination. There is no technical and organizational focus on getting the end result. At the surface there are “narrow places”, which do not allow quickly solve problem tasks.
A.N.Shulunov said thinks that a possible way out could be using scientific centres of university science in close connection with scientific-production enterprises of RAS, military-industrial complex enterprises. MEPhI “Nanotechnologies” centre could become a “successful area, having new technologies, which allow become a leader in electronics, radiophotonics”.
MEPhI rector M.N.Strikhanov claimed that the university is really interested in creation of such Consortium. “It is a priority work for us. MEPhI was initially created so that science would be equal with education. Quality higher education is impossible without science, and we support the idea of consolidation of our science with industry on the basis if university scientific centre.”
The Head of the Institute of nanotechnologies in electronics, spintronics and photonics N.I.Kargin told about possibilities of “Nanotechnologies” centre for creation of a scientific-technological cluster of integral radiophotonics, represented significant scientific achievements and perspective technologies. The modern level of technologies allows conduct applied developments on creation of samples of solid body electronics devices in the cycle “fundamental developments – device for experiments” in nanoelectronics, SHF and power electronics.
Professor of MEPhI Laser physics Department R.S.Starikov told about works, conducted in the Laboratory of holography and information optics and the Laboratory of optical processing of information. He told about technical possibilities of these units in conducting works, represented the executives.
The meeting worked out the solution project, for the realization of which it was decided to create the initiative group out of the meeting participants to prepare for the Consortium documents, personnel, and supply with equipment and materials.
