MEPhI territory comprises not only educational and laboratory buildings, but also beautiful and picturesque territory, a great place for work and rest.
High professionalism of our gardeners allows both employees and guests enjoy unique landscape objects. The beautiful territory is an important factor of university’s attraction for enrollees who are now applying for our university.
It will take a long time to see the whole university park. This beauty is created only by 2 people – gardeners Marina Antonova and Irina Tsvetkova.
Marina Antonova has agreed to show the university’s tree nursery and speak about it. The excursion route has been started from the main building.
- The university territory, which is about 19 ha, has a lot of unique plants. For example, softwood: fir, mountain pine, cedars, which usually hardly take roots, blue spruces.
It is hard to find plants which are good neighbors. All the flowers are capricious to soil and light.
On the right from the main building in early spring a very beautiful tree starts to bloom, which many people take for sakura. But this is an apple tree. Nearly 30 years ago a very good gardener worked there, and he inoculated pink wilding to a white apple tree. So now we can see both white and pink blooming branches on the same tree.
There is also a “wailing wall” on the territory of the university. Enrollees, who have not passed the exams, are wailing, and rambling wine and a fountain symbolize their tears.

- MEPhI is outstanding among technical universities, the level of education there is rather high. I have noticed that the university’s territory is beautiful, which is attractive, but the knowledge is more important.
