Fr om July, 10 to 16, 2016 Kaluga region has become the spot for conducting International forum of young power engineers and industry workers – “Forsage” – a unique area uniting young representatives of nuclear industry, fuel and energy sector and industry. The forum was held by the State Corporation “Rosatom” and the International Association of Corporate Education with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RF, the Ministry of Energy of the RF and Kaluga region.
Nearly 700 participants, 11 sections, 150 invited guests were united in a form of the field camp to get new knowledge, develop creative thinking, apply the principles of the culture of lean manufacturing, and communicate with each other. The “Forsage” area allowed the participants to get relevant knowledge about key industrial, cross-corporate and cross-sector projects.
Each year the forum configuration is becoming more interesting and diverse. At first, the number of sections and participants fr om different companies grows. According to the words of the Head of the Communications Department of the “Rosatom” State Corporation Sergey Novikov, this is a good tendency because representatives of the program of Rosatom candidate pool have a possibility to see what is going on in other companies. “It is useful to look at the situation in contrast, compare yourself with other people. Such activities as this event “clear up” your brain pulling out of the routine. This is the value of “Forsage”. Some people come there not for a business trip but for a vacation.”
The second difference of the 2016 forum is a new section which united young people from different countries of the world – “Global cooperation”, organized by “Rossotrudnichestvo”. As Sergey Novikov claims: “We don’t lim it ourselves by Rosatom but also by the RF in general and invite young people from other countries for our educational process.”
The third difference is a design-and-engineering game “Chain reaction”. While previously the activity, connected with the educational module, the idea of which was offered by the Head of “Rosatom” Sergey Kirienko, lasted one day, this year a whole process was built up. All the guests were divided into 32 teams, which got tasks and 4 days for its accomplishment. The task was to build up an amusement based on the chain reaction wh ere each previous stage launches the following one. Only materials offered by organisers could be used. The key requirements for the game were the accomplishment of the customer’s requirements, strict correspondence to the safety standards, the novelty of offered technical solutions, knack for team work. On the fourth day Sergey Kirienko announced the results of the game, gave practical advice and prizes for winners.
The main judges of the big amusement were its target audience, i.e. children from the children's camp located nearby.
Another new section – “Student” one –was organized by MEPhI by the initiative of Sergey Kirienko and MEPhI rector Mikhail Strikhanov. The youngest “Forsage” section consisted of 18 people half of which were from Moscow branch of MEPhI, another half from the Obninsk one. One of the most important requirements for the candidate was scientific paper the topic of which were within interests of “Rosatom”, because participants of all of the sections had a final project to defend.
4 MEPhI enrollees out of 30 applicants were shortlisted for the participation in “Forsage”. It was those who participated in the Olympiads, did excellent in the state exam and submitted original documents in MEPhI. They enjoyed the event and expressed their hopes to visit it once again.
Director of the Nazarov Institute of Geophysics and Engeneering Seismology of NAS RA Jon K. Karapetyan shared his impressions: “The forum is not traditional, but it is organized on the highest level. I like the fact that just created ideas are immediately implemented. Also we have established a lot of contacts. Moreover, tomorrow we we’re signing an agreement about scientific-technological cooperation with a Russian organization. I would like to thank all the “Rossotrudnichestvo” and the organizers of this forum.”
Arsen Nazaryan, also the Armenian representative from the Armenian youth center “Serund”, noted that there was a contest to participate in the forum: only three were selected out of 300 people. “So I'm very glad to be here and express my gratitude to everyone who had something to do with the event. The atmosphere is great, good food, all the staff of the forum, curators are great people and professionals. I'd love to take part in the Forsage-2017.”
Lebogang Charmaine Sepini, research fellow in South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa), claimed: “The forum gave me a chance to get to know the latest innovations and ideas in the nuclear field. It is very interesting and informative for me because we plan to build the second nuclear station. Apart from the participation in the contest we make projects about energetics of countries represented in our group: Bulgaria, Armenia, Russia, South Africa, Nigeria, Kongo… We work on the solutions to develop energy industry of each country. This is my second visit to Russia. The first time was in 2011, when I participated in the summer school at the JINR in Dubna for three weeks. Russia is very nice, there's a lot of technology and you can learn a lot here.”
