Results of final stage of Russian Student Contest show high level of knowledge among MEPhI students in nuclear physics and technology

On May, 21-22 MEPhI has held the final stage of the Russian Student Contest in “Nuclear physics and technology” where the winners were awarded.

It was another time when our university welcomed the best students of our country who came to participate in the contest. More than 80 students representing 20 universities from 8 cities took part in the contest final stage in “Nuclear physics and technology”. It shows the growing interest in science and prestige of engineering-physical education.

The contest in nuclear physics and technology is aimed at the development of theoretical and practical knowledge among students in the following directions: applied nuclear physics; basics of the theory of neutron transfer and nuclear reactors; thermohydraulic processes in nuclear facilities; elements of physics of strength and basics of material sciences.

The awarding ceremony was opened by the Acting Dean of Physical-Technical faculty G.V. Tikhomirov. On the behalf of the Russian Nuclear Society its Head S.V. Kushnarev also welcomed the participants.

The winners of the Russian Student Contest have privileges while applying for Master’s degree programs of any university of the Russian Federation, including MEPhI. This is what the Head of the Department of Master’s degree programs, the Head of the Headquarters of Contests’ Organisers, A.M. Maslennikov said. He claimed that “our university offers not only 80 Master’s degree programs, but also a worthy way to the science”.

The Head of the Innovative activity management of JSC “Science and innovations” of “Rosatom” State Corporation N.M. Mantsevich also wished good luck to the participants.

The winner of the contest is Alexey Frolov from Bauman MSTU.

The 2nd degree winner is Nikita Liberovskiy from MEPhI.

The 3rd degree winner is Sergey Makovkin from ISPU.

In the team event the winners are the following:

1st place – MEPhI team,

2nd place – team from Bauman MSTU,

3rd place – ISPU team.
