On March, 19th a Doors Open Day has been held for Master’s programs entrants in MEPhI. Not only MEPhI but other universities’ students also have attended the event.
The existence of Master’s programs in Russian leading universities is a condition sine qua non of the country’s entry in the international education space. There is a wide range of Master’s programs in MEPhI which fulfils modern requirements of scientific, engineering, and academic staff training in Russia.
MEPhI Master’s programs are based on the cooperation with universities of Russia, the CIS and non-CIS countries, Russian and international research centres, RAS institutes, innovative enterprises.
University Pro-rector V.V. Uzhva has highlighted the science’s leading position and its connection with the education in MEPhI in his welcoming speech. Master’s programs’ entry has its peculiarities in 2016: there will be a contest in directions of training, and the entrants will be recruited into the university’s academic units – Institutes. New structures have appeared to make educational programs based on recent advances in science and technology. The main focus is on students’ involvement in their research from the very beginning. V.V. Uzhva has claimed that Master’s programs are distributed between Institutes and university faculties making a total of 731 state-funded places in 2016.
Nowadays there are 69 educational Master’s programs in 21 training direction in MEPhI. Institutes and faculties representatives have spoken about research topics, laboratory facilities, Professors, key partners and employment perspectives for Master’s graduates.
G.V. Tikhomirov has made a report about the Institute of nuclear physics and technology. He has lighted the peculiarities of educational programs some of which are in English.
V.A. Kurnaev, the Head of the Plasma Physics Department, has spoken about Institute of laser and plasma technologies’ activity and advantages.
Physical and engineering Institute of biomedicine has been represented by I.N. Zavestovskaya.
There have also been reports about Institute of nanostructural electronics, Institute of intellectual cybernetic systems, Institute of financial and economic safety, Institute of international relations, Physics-technological faculty and Faculty of business informatics and complex systems management.
The Head of the Master’s programs Department has informed the audience about necessary documents and the rules of procedure this year.
Excursions to university laboratories and research centres have been organized after the official part of the event.
