/Press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation/ On March 18-19, Moscow has hosted the meeting of the Council on improving the competitiveness of leading Russian universities among world research and educational centers. The meeting reviewed the draft “road maps” of the universities selected to participate in a program of improving international competitiveness in October 2015, as well as the program results in 2015 and plans for 2016 and subsequent years.
The Council paid particular attention to the analysis of the achieved program results and presence of a clear system of development priorities in terms of scientific and educational activities and universities’ management system that will provide them with a strong position in the global academic system.
Summarizing the results, the Council recommended the Ministry of Education and Science to allocate 3 groups of universities and to provide each of them grants in 2016 in the amount of 900, 500 and 150 million rubles, respectively.
The group of universities, which is recommended to receive 900 million rubles in 2016, includes:
- Kazan Federal University
- Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT)
- National University of Science and Technology MISiS
- National Research University Higher School of Economics
- National Research Nuclear University MEPhI
- Novosibirsk State University
- Saint Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO)
The second group, which is recommended to receive 500 million rubles, includes:
- Far Eastern Federal University
- National Research Тomsk State University
- Tomsk Polytechnic University
- I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University
- Samara State Aerospace University
- Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University
- Ural Federal University
The last group of universities, which is recommended to receive 150 million rubles in 2016, includes:
- Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University
- Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod
- Peoples’ Friendship University (RUDN University)
- Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI"
- Siberian Federal University
- University of Tyumen
- South Ural State University
