On August 31, Rankings for the first time the Times Higher Education World University has published the rating of the leading universities of the Eurasian region. The announcement of the results took place at the Kazan Federal University at THE’s Research Excellence Summit: Eurasia.

MEPhI took the 4th place among the participants of the Project 5-100. The top line in the ranking was taken by MSU. In total, the rating includes 27 Russian universities.

According to the editor-in-chief of THE World University Rankings Phil Baty, the new rating provides an excellent opportunity to take a fresh look at the Eurasian region: it ranks 16 countries representing both Central and Eastern Europe and Central and Western Asia.

"In the new ranking, we used internationally recognized performance indicators, such as the gold standards of the general ranking of the world universities (Times Higher Education World University Rankings), so the position of Russian universities in this regional ranking reflects their various strengths within a wide range of reliable and independent indicators," said Baty.

He stressed that the fact that Russia not only took the top three positions in the ranking, but its six universities are among the top ten universities and Russian universities make up more than a third of all the universities included in the ranking, is a good achievement, evidence of the reforms carried out in Russia, which are aimed at improving the global competitiveness of universities.
