On 16 and 17 April MEPhI has held a seminar on the development of students’ associations and preparation of candidate pool for student government. These days Moscow site gathered students involved in socio-educational work of the University, as well as specialists in the field of youth policy fr om majority of MEPhI branches. The purpose of the meeting was exchange of experience in student self-government and youth policy at the administrative and students’ level.
The workshop started with presentations, when representatives of student government talked about their organizational structures and management principles, methods of information sharing, existing events and achievements. Students were able to discuss all these issues and ask questions.
After presentations, the seminar was continued by round tables in four sections: volunteering, culture and creativity, science and career guidance, wh ere attendees were able to exchange experience and get helpful advice. After the official part of the event all participants went on tour of the MEPhI.
The next day was devoted to exchange of experience in formation and work with a candidate pool for student government. Representatives of these organizations participated in various master classes and round tables.
According to the results of the seminar representatives of MEPhI branches and head sites have developed a concept of further work on coordination and interaction at a distance and determined the General direction of development of University youth policy. In addition, they proposed a program of the first joint student action, results of which are planned to be published on the web-resources of universities before exams.
Exchange of experience at the students’ level has served as support for further development of students’ self-government and their activities, in particular adaptation programmes of first-year students and field camps for personnel reserve of Universities. The event received good notices from its participants, organization and the atmosphere of the meeting was really appreciated. The initiative of the United Students Council of the MEPhI, which gave an opportunity to gather representatives of regional student community and the universities’ administration in one place, has been appreciated by all the participants of the meeting and allowed to achieve constructive results.
