Open Day of Faculty “Part-time (evening) education”

On March 28 MEPhI has held an Open day of the Faculty “Part-time (evening) education”. More than 200 pupils, students of colleges and lyceums, as well as young workers came to know about admission requirements for part-time form of study, and meet Faculty representatives.

Evening form of study is currently in demand. It’s not a form of education which is important for an employer. Status of the University and level of knowledge, skills that the University provides for its students are much more important. Alumni of this faculty are generally distinguished by presence of necessary experience, which facilitates their subsequent employment and accelerates career growth. Therefore, today more and more young people decide to get education without interrupting their working activities.

It is an opportunity which the Faculty of part-time education provides for future entrants. Its students receive prestigious education in the most advanced areas of science and technology. They undergo fundamental physical and mathematical training, study a wide range of engineering and economic disciplines, and specialize in the latest achievements of experimental and theoretical physics.

Opening the event the Dean of the Faculty B.F. Anufriev told about the Faculty, its history, structure and training areas, noted the high position of MEPhI in national and international rankings of universities. He stressed that the Faculty is famous for its high level of students’ training because prominent scientists, academicians, heads of major research institutions and laboratories participated and still participate in its creation and development. That is why there are so many scientists, professors, leaders of business and government agencies, winners of prestigious competitions and awards among Faculty graduates.

The Dean informed that at the present time the Faculty “Part-time (evening) education” trains specialists for scientific institutions, industrial enterprises in the following areas: “Nuclear physics and technologies”, “Information security”, “Informatics and computer science”, “Applied informatics”, “Electronics and automation of physical installations”.

Representatives of Faculty’s Departments acquainted prospective students with a profile of their divisions, told about achievements in the field of educational and research activities. Young people were able to get more detailed information on each field of training during excursions to base Departments and laboratories, organized after the official part of the event.

The Open Day allowed prospective students to get the most complete information about the Faculty, make a choice about future profession and form of education. Many questions to representatives of the Faculty have demonstrated an interest not only to evening form of study, but to higher education in the MEPhI in general.
