On February 17-18, the VII Forum of Rectors of Universities of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran was held at the University of Tehran. The forum was attended by Professor Georgy Tikhomirov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics and Technology at the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI.
Delegations from the two countries were led by Simai Sarraf Hossein, Minister of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia.
The event brought together more than 50 university rectors, representatives of educational and scientific institutions and departments.
Professor Georgy Tikhomirov addressed the forum participants, talking about the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, our university's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as well as the education of foreign students at MEPhI.
The Forum held thematic events on February 18. sessions by topic: "Exact and natural sciences, agriculture" and "Humanities and Social Sciences".
As stated by Academician Viktor Sadovnichy, President of the Russian Union of Rectors, Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, "The forums of rectors of universities of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran have a special place and importance for direct and regular dialogue between the university communities of the two countries in the system of relations between Russia and Iran. The forums have become a powerful engine for the entire range of relations between our countries, contributing to the development of scientific, educational and technological cooperation between Russia and Iran."
It should be recalled that earlier Professor Georgy Tikhomirov participated in the IAEA mission to Iran.
In 2022, the official delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran visited the Obninsk Institute of Atomic Energy (IATE NRU MEPhI).
