Dmitry Savkin, Vice-Rector of the MEPhI National Research University, told Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim about such plans for 2025 on the sidelines of the Malaysia commercialization year summit exhibition. Vladimir Kislov, Director of the Directorate for the Development of Project Activities, represented the Nuclear University.
"Malaysia is very successful in commercializing developments and bringing the idea to a high-tech product in demand by the market. Malaysia's experience will help Russian universities to develop a methodology for bringing technology startups to international markets, and MEPhI is actively moving in this direction," Dmitry Savkin stressed after talks with Anwar Ibrahim.
A representative office of MEPhI may appear on the basis of the Malaysian Research Accelerator of Technology and Innovation (MRANTI). Among the first developments that the parties are considering to start working together are quantum cascade terahertz lasers, data transmission technology on the indium phosphide technology platform, a graphene-based memristor, a powerful microwave amplifier module on the GaN/SiC platform and some others.
Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, commented on the event: "The opening of the MEPhI representative office on the basis of the Malaysian Research Accelerator of Technologies and Innovations is of great importance, because Russian-Malaysian scientific and educational cooperation is on the rise today and contributes to the development of both countries. We are implementing projects to create joint research centers, have launched several network programs, including double diplomas, and continue work on coordinating mutual recognition of education, qualifications and academic degrees. Considering how actively the economy of Southeast Asia is developing today, we expect that the commercialization of the developments of scientists at the National Research Institute of MEPhI in the local market will be quite successful."
The Head of the Malaysian government expressed support for the cooperation between MEPhI and MRANTI on the commercialization of the developments of the Russian University in the Malaysian market.
In addition, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim informed representatives of MEPhI that he plans to attend the Eastern Economic Forum in September 2024 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
