11.10.2023

On October 6, Vice-Rector of MEPhI Dmitry Savkin signed cooperation agreements with three Myanmar universities - Yangon Technological University (YTU), University of Information and Technology (UIT) and Chause University of Technology.

To mark the occasion, a signing ceremony was organized at the Yangon University of Technology campus with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of Myanmar, Mr. Aung Zeya. As a part of his welcoming speech, he expressed hope for strengthening ties and fruitful cooperation between MEPhI and the academic community of Myanmar.

In turn, Dmitry Savkin, speaking to the academic community of Myanmar, said that over the past 20 years MEPhI has trained about 500 specialists for the Union of Myanmar, many of whom have achieved significant success in their chosen career paths.

The new page of cooperation between universities aims to not only increase the flow of academic mobility, but also to integrate MEPhI’s educational services into the global space, increase the competitiveness of the national higher education systems, resolve problems and determine prospects for the development of professional education.

The location for the ceremony was not chosen by chance. YTU is one of the best universities in Myanmar, the country's leading engineering and technological university, a leading university in training highly qualified personnel and implementing scientific innovations. Currently, it has 12 engineering departments, 6 support departments, 1 research center and 47 laboratories.
