On September 11 and 12, the Faculty for Business Informatics and Integrated Systems Management (FBIISM) held the defense of final qualifying works of master's students from the Republic of Kazakhstan, who were trained in three areas of training: business informatics, management, state and municipal administration.

Two years ago, a special enrollment took place in the FBIISM master's program: the vast majority of today's graduates, about forty of them, are employees of NAC Kazatomprom, a large production structure of the Republic of Kazakhstan that solves problems of the development of nuclear technologies (similar to the Rosatom State Corporation in Russia). The training programs fully comply with all regulatory requirements, but the conditions for their implementation provided mainly for the use of distance educational technologies. At the same time, the defense of theses took place in Moscow according to all the rules of our state examination commissions.

After defending their diplomas on September 12, a meeting of graduates with the leadership of MEPhI took place in the conference hall. The welcoming speech was delivered by the first vice-rector of the nuclear university, Oleg Nagornov: “I heartily congratulate you on the successful defense of your theses to our future colleagues from Kazakhstan! We are waiting for you at our branch in Almaty - it is actively developing, it needs new personnel, and we hope for further cooperation with you - after all, the family of MEPhI graduates is growing, and now you have also become part of it!”

The head of the directorate for work with partners and alumni, Marina Stupnikova, spoke about the creation of the International Club of MEPhI Alumni - Mephi Global Alumni Network - and what advantages club members have. “In addition to the enormous amount of knowledge that you received here, you also acquired significant social capital - you became part of a family of graduates. And this is a pass to new career opportunities,” said Marina Stupnikova. “MEPhI plans to implement a number of initiatives in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and we hope that you will join them and be able to demonstrate your leadership qualities.”

All graduates from the Republic of Kazakhstan were awarded personalized club membership cards and badges in honor of the 80th anniversary of our University.

Dean of FBIISM Alexander Putilov spoke about regular faculty foresight seminars on the development of the digital economy, in which graduates from the Republic of Kazakhstan will now be able to fully participate.

“For the economy of the future - Russia, Kazakhstan, and the entire Eurasian Economic Union - new personnel are needed: people who are involved in management economics must be well versed in engineering technology, and engineers must understand what economic consequences technical solutions lead to,” emphasized Alexander Putilov . – Your competencies are needed in a huge number of new areas of business, scientific research and industry: after all, business informatics is actually a toolkit for the digital economy. This is also evidenced by the topics of qualifying works: “Managing the digital transformation of production organization”, “Increasing the efficiency of uranium mining”, “Investing in IT projects for the uranium mining industry”, “Digital technologies in the public administration of the mining industry”, “Business information science in the management of investment projects in uranium mining”, etc. I am confident that the knowledge that you received from us will be in demand not only in Kazakhstan, but also on the global nuclear market.”

In their responses, the master's graduates thanked the leadership of our University for the opportunity to acquire new competencies that are extremely necessary for the innovative development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Ermet Beysekeyev especially noted “the sensitive, informal attitude and support that students from Kazakhstan received these two years from the teachers and staff of MEPhI,” and wished our university to continue to remain a leader in nuclear education.

At the end of the meeting, a group photograph took place against the backdrop of a stand with portraits of the founding fathers of MEPhI.
