On June 8, a delegation from the Ministry of Education of South Africa visited MEPhI. The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize foreign guests with the possibilities of Russian engineering and nuclear education.
The South African delegation included the Director General of the Department of Higher Education and Training Nkosinathi Sishi, the Chief Director of the Executive Support Department of the Director General Kgabo Matjane, the Chief Director of International Relations Xolani Khumalo, acting Director of International Scholarships Temwa Moyo.
During the meeting, guests from South Africa were given brief information about the history and current state of MEPhI, about the training of students from South Africa at our university. Representatives of MEPhI talked about current areas of study, about how students from South Africa can enter the Russian Nuclear University, about scholarships from Rosatom. The implementation of academic mobility programs for students and faculty members was discussed.
The topic of the conversation was also the role of nanotechnologies in medicine and in the nuclear industry and the attraction of young specialists and professional personnel in the field of nuclear technologies.
Recall that the intergovernmental agreement on strategic partnership in nuclear energy and industry between Russia and South Africa was signed in 2014. Currently, the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement on attracting students from the Republic of South Africa to study at MEPhI, in particular for the programs of Institute of Engineering Physics for Biomedicine (PhysBio) of the MEPhI, is being discussed.
