Yuri Oganessian, an outstanding world-famous physicist, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Nuclear Physics, and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is celebrating his 90th birthday today!

Yuri Oganessian graduated from MEPhin 1956 with a degree in design and operation of physical instruments and installations. He has more than 460 scientific papers, monographs and reviews to his credit. He became the second person in the world to have a chemical element, oganesson, named after him during his lifetime.
Yuri Oganessian has many awards and honorary titles.
