MEPhI entered the TOP 5 best Russian universities (401-500 in the world) according to THE World University Rankings 2023. Nuclear University has increased scores in 9 out of 13 ranking indicators.

It is worth noting that MEPhI is ranked 156th in the world in the Teaching indicator and 215th in the Research indicator. In addition to MEPhI, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, SPbPU and HSE are among the top five universities in Russia.

This year, the number of ranked universities has increased to 1,799 universities (versus 1,662 in 2021), while the number of Russian universities has increased from 60 to 76.

For reference: Times Higher Education evaluates universities according to 13 indicators grouped in 5 areas: Teaching (the learning environment); Research (volume, income and reputation); Citations (research influence); International outlook (staff, students and research); Industry income (knowledge transfer). The ranking uses the Scopus bibliometric database, surveys of international experts, etc.
