MEPhI took 162nd place in the world and 5th among Russian universities in the "Three Missions of the University" Moscow International University Ranking.

The ranking was prepared by the Association of Ranking Compilers with the support of the Russian Union of Rectors and information assistance from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The top five best universities in Russia also included Lomonosov Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and Higher School of Economics.

The number of universities represented in the global ranking in 2022 increased to 1800 (compared to 1650 a year earlier), while the number of Russian universities increased to 146 (last year it was 112). According to this parameter, the ranking is the most representative in the world among other recognized international rankings.

To compile the ranking, only objective criteria, based on official data, as well as data from reputable international information providers, were used.
