Mikhail Strikhanov Was Elected Scientific Director of the MEPhI

The Academic Council of the MEPhI elected ex-rector of the university Mikhail Strikhanov as the scientific director of the MEPhI.

Professor, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Mikhail Strikhanov headed MEPhI from 2007 to 2021. Today he holds the post of Director of the Institute of Nanotechnology in Electronics, Spintronics and Photonics of the MEPhI.

"I thank you for your trust. The steering wheel of the university is now safe, and I hope that MEPhI will continue and multiply its achievements. I will try to make my contribution to its development. There are many scientific topics that need to be worked on," Mikhail Strikhanov said.

The main directions of Mikhail Strikhanov's scientific research are nuclear physics, the interaction of radiation with matter, and the physics of nanostructures. He has prepared more than three hundred scientific papers, five monographs, has a citation index of 13834, a Hirsch index of H = 83 (Web of Science, 2021).

The scientist leads the MEPhI group in the STAR experiment to detect quark-gluon plasma at the Brookhaven National Laboratory (USA).

Mikhail Strikhanov - member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Education, Deputy Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission, Deputy Chairman of the Interdepartmental Council for awarding prizes of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of education; member of the Scientific and Technical Council of Rosatom State Corporation, Chairman of the Russian National Monitoring Committee of the European Association for Engineering Education (FEANI), member of the editorial board of the journal Atomic Energy, chairman of the editorial board of the journal Nuclear Physics and Engineering.
