On September 2, the magazine Times Higher Education published World University Rankings.
MEPhI retained 401-500th place among the best universities in the world (4th place among the participants of Project 5-100). MEPhI noticeably improved its positions in Teaching, taking 199th place in the world (261th in 2019) and in Research, taking the 215th place in the world (252th in 2019). In addition, the indicators for research reputation, the number of publications on the academic staff, the proportion of foreign students and teachers were improved. At the same time, the citation score decreased (the THE ranking practically does not take into account the citation rate of publications made in major collaborations, such as CERN, etc.)
This year, the competition between the participants in the ranking has intensified: the ranking includes 1,527 educational institutions from 93 countries (last year - 1,396).
Times Higher Education evaluates universities for all of their activities: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. To ensure a complete and balanced comparison, experts use 13 performance indicators.
