Registration for the International Open Doors Olympiad (Russian Scholarship Project) for prospective Master’s and PhD students opens on September 15, 2020. Foreign citizens wishing to study for free on the best Russian Master's degree and PhD programs are invited to participate.
The International Open Doors Olympiad is organized by The Association of Global Universities in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudichestvo) for the fourth year in a row.
For the past three years, more than 80 thousand people from 200 countries took part in the Olympiad. More than 800 of them became winners and prize-winners and got the opportunity to study for free in the Master's degree programs of the best Russian universities.
The competition is open to foreigners and stateless persons, including compatriots living abroad, having a degree or completing a Bachelor or a Master program in 2021. All rounds of the Olympiad are held in the distant format.
For the winners and prize-winners of the 2020-2021 Olympiad, 600 places are provided for free study in the Master's degree and PhD programs of Russian universities in accordance with one of 14 subject areas:
- Business and Management
- Biology and Biotechnology
- Engineering and Technology
- Clinical Medicine
- Computer and Data Science
- Linguistics and Modern Languages
- Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence
- Earth Sciences
- Neurosciences and Psychology
- Education
- Political Science
- Physics
- Chemistry and Materials Science
- Economics and Econometrics
Also, the winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad can receive other privileges by the decision of the universities – organizers of the Olympiad.
The Olympiad has three rounds:
- September, 15 - Decеmber, 20, 2020. The registration is open (please visit the Project website). The first round is a portfolio competition — participants should upload their documents within period (for Master’s students and PhD students).
- January, 11 - January, 30, 2021. Winners of the portfolio competition are welcome to participate in the second round — an online testing (solving profile problems).
- The third round will be held through interviews with potential research supervisors (for the PhD track).
The Olympiad (and further education) is held in Russian and English.
National Research Nuclear University MEPhI in 2020-2021 academic year is the coordinator of the subject areas “MATHEMATICS and ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE” and “ENGINEERING and TECHNOLOGY” of the Open Doors Olympiad. The winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad, who chose MEPhI for training, will be able to enter training programs in accordance with the Olympiad subject areas.
In 2020, 16 winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad from different countries (India, Bangladesh, Mexico, China, Nigeria, Kenya, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan) chose MEPhI Master's degree programs in Nuclear Physics, Electronics and Nanoelectronics, Materials Science, Business Informatics, Biology, Applied Mathematics and Informatics.
