The British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has published the annual ranking of the best universities in the world — QS World University Rankings 2020/2021.

Despite the increasing competition, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI took 314th place in the world rising by 15 positions compared to last year. MEPhI took 5th place among the participants in the Project 5-100. The main drivers of the university’s growth in the ranking were indicators on scientific citation and internationalization.

According to the rector of MEPhI Mikhail Strikhanov, Russian universities have become increasingly visible in the global scientific and educational market; it is shown by the published QS rating.

«Before the implementation of Project 5-100, MEPhI did not enter the QS rating at all, and now it has taken 314th place. The dynamics of improving the university ranking position shows that the transformation in research and international activities, the management structure gives its positive results. Now it is about a quarter of foreign students studying at MEPhI, 18% of foreign scientific and pedagogical workers are employed “ said rector.
