The International information group "Interfax" has presented the results of the IX annual National ranking of universities according to the results of the 2017/2018 school year. In total, the ranking rated 288 leading universities of Russia, including 29 national research universities, 10 federal, 33 supporting universities, as well as 21 universities participating in the 5-100 Project. The ranking also includes 7 leading private universities.

The activity of universities was evaluated in six main areas: education, research, socialization, internationalization, innovation and brand of the University.

For the second year in a row, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI holds the second place in the ranking among all Russian universities.

The Lomonosov MSU takes stand first place, the third one – MIPT.

“According to the majority of criteria, MEPhI corresponds with the level of a world-class University,” said the editor of the National University rating, Alexey Chaplygin. “If we talk about the implementation of programs in foreign languages, last year MEPhI was in the second place, and now – the first.”

The National ranking of universities "Interfax" exists since 2010. As a source of data it use open materials on the activities of universities, personal data collected by Interfax experts, monitoring of universities conducted by the Ministry of education and science of Russia, as well as results of analysis conducted by the integrated news analysis system (SCAN-Interfax).
