MEPhI signs Memorandums with world universities at ATOMEXPO 2017

On June, 19, 2017 in the framework of the IX International Forum "ATOMEXPO 2017" MEPhI signed memorandums with three universities.

 Bolivian University UMSA and MEPhI have signed a Memorandum of understanding, which defines issues of cooperation in the spheres of science and education.

The document was signed by rector of the Higher University of San Andrés Waldo Albarracin Sanchez and the rector of MEPhI Mikhail Strikhanov in the presence of the Director General of the Nuclear Energy Agency of Bolivia (ABEN – Agencia Boliviana de Energía Nuclear) Hortensia Jiménez.

Within the framework of legislation existing in each country both parties conduct joint cooperation in the following areas: development of joint research programmes; use of research infrastructures; exchange of curriculum and scientific information; organization of bilateral joint symposiums, seminars and conferences; exchange of students to study educational programs; conduct of specialized and integrated programmes for graduate students.                                                  

   


Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées -  ENSTA ParisTech and MEPhI signed a Memorandum of understanding at the IX International Forum “ATOMEXPO 2017”.

Under the partnership, the parties agreed to develop and expand their scientific and academic cooperation in the following areas: exchange of students at graduate and post-graduate level; exchange of faculty and development of joint programs, courses, double degree programmes; teaching cooperation and exchange of information and documentation in the field of methods and tools in education. It is also planned to implement joint research programmes, organization of seminars, colloquia and scientific seminars on topics of common interest.                        

The French Institute INSTN (National Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology) and MEPhI have also signed an agreement in the field of education and training.

The document was signed by the Director of the INSTN Philippe Corréa and the rector of MEPhI Mikhail Strikhanov.

The agreement envisages cooperation between the two universities in the fields of education and science, in particular: mutual exchange of students at graduate and post-graduate levels; exchange of faculty and development of joint programs, courses, double degree programmes; teaching cooperation and exchange of information and documentation in the field of methods and tools in education.

The first joint project will be the Franco-Russian student competition of scientific works.

Active interaction of the main center of nuclear education of France through its tight links with the French CEA, INSTN and the leading Russian University in the field of nuclear industry MEPhI will actively help to improve the quality of specialists training for nuclear power of both countries.

Background:

The National Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology, INSTN is a public higher education institution administered by the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission, established in 1956. It is under the joint authority of the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research, the Ministry of the Economy, Industry and the Digital Sector and the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Marine Affairs. It is the main center of nuclear education in France.

The Institute is committed to the European process by actively participating in the development of a European area for higher education in the nuclear sector. It is a founding member of the ENEN (European Nuclear Education Network) Association which is a network that promotes training activities in the nuclear energy sector. The INSTN chaired the association from 2003 to 2013 and is also involved in projects funded by the European framework programme for research and development (FPRD) to develop and standardise education and training in Europe.

Higher University of San Andrés (UMSA) is one of the largest universities of Bolivia, founded in 1830. UMSA is non-profit public higher education institution, located in the city of La Paz with population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants. Officially accredited/recognized by the Ministerio de Educación, Bolivia (Ministry of Education, Bolivia).
