On May 29, the second stage of the pilot testing of the WorldSkills Russia demonstration exam has started in Moscow. 9098 graduates from 54 Moscow colleges and 3 universities will confirm their professional qualifications in accordance with the WorldSkills international standards for 64 competencies.

MEPhI, as one of the leaders of the Cisco Networking Academy program, has provided technological support for the exam in the specialty "Network and System Administration", which is conducted on the basis of the Moscow Communication College № 54, and also access to the rest of equipment required in the process of the test in cooperation with colleagues from the Moscow Technological University (MIREA).

Within three weeks prior to the exam, university and college staff, in conjunction with the WorldSkills Regional Coordination Center in Moscow, set up virtual machines and laboratory stands to enable the exam participants to carry out assignments.

“We have taken the preparation of an exam for WorldSkills standards in case of technical support for free outsourcing and now the participants are enjoying the results of our work,” said Lyubov Dukhanina, the deputy head of the Committee for Education and Science of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, head of the MEPhI department of pedagogy and methodology of natural science education. “In Russia there are very few educational sites that can afford to have a full set of equipment for such events. Currently, thanks to remote technologies, it is possible to conduct examinations nationwide; in addition, MEPhI specialists have extensive experience working with materials of this kind.”

“After the examination we will get a really unique experience of rapid deployment of such examination areas and plan to scale them in any part of the country. For this month we also plan to get practices that will allow us to formulate proposals for improving the technical conditions for conducting such examinations in the future and to show them to the WorldSkills Russia Union,” said Andrey Vilchinsky, responsible expert for this project from MEPhI.

Demonstration exam by WorldSkills Russia standards on the specialty “Network and system administration” on the basis of the College of Communications № 54 will last until June 29 and for a month it will be attended by students of several institutions of intermediate vocational education in Moscow.
