Team of Junior contest brought 5 awards of International competition of scientific and engineering projects Intel ISEF in USA

A team of winners of the All-Russian competition of scientific works of schoolchildren "Junior" (organizer is MEPhI) presented the Russian Federation as part of a team of Russian schoolchildren at the international competition of scientific and engineering projects Intel ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair), held from May, 14 to 19 in Los Angeles, the USA. The contest was attended by 1770 schoolchildren from 70 countries.

Six projects (4 individual and 2 team ones) were selected from the Junior contest to participate in Intel ISEF. The team consisted of: Evgeniy Goncharov (Nizhny Novgorod region, Sarov, Lyceum №3), Raul Karachurin and Sergey Timofeev (Moscow, Lyceum №1568), Alexandra Samoilova and Maria Makarova (Moscow, Lyceum-gymnasium complex In the South-East), Nikita Milevskiy (Moscow, Lyceum-gymnasium complex in the Southeast), Olga Golovan (Moscow Region, Fryazino, Grammar School of Fryazino), Egor Morozov (Moscow, Lyceum "Second school").

According to the results of Intel ISEF, the Junior team took 5 prizes out of 9, received by Russian students:

  • 2nd place in chemistry (Alexandra Samoylova, Maria Makarova);
  • 4th place in mathematics (Egor Morozov);
  • Special prize from the American Mathematical Society (Egor Morozov);
  • Special prize from the American Chemical Society (Alexandra Samoylova and Maria Makarova)
  • Special prize from Sigma Xi (The Scientific Research Society).

The success of the "Junior" team once again confirmed the high level of our competition

All-Russian competition of scientific works of schoolchildren "Junior" is held at MEPhI since 1998 in natural and technical directions with the purpose of developing interest to creative project activity among students of 9-11 grades. This year, Junior has accepted high school students for the twentieth time.
