Novovoronezh Nuclear power plant (branch of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC, Electric Power Division of the State Corporation Rosatom) was visited by a delegation of foreign students who study at the Obninsk Institute of Nuclear Energy (NRNU MEPhI's branch) and at the Moscow site of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Rosatom's main university) in the areas of “Nuclear Reactors, Materials” and “Nuclear Plants: Design, Operation and Engineering”. The delegation included students from the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the Kingdom of Jordan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The technical tour of the students took place within the framework of cooperation between Rosatom and NRNU MEPhI on the development of resource centers “Rosatom State Corporation – NRNU MEPhI”.
Foreign students visited the first nuclear power plant with pressurized water power reactors, where a wide range of VVERs of various generations is presented. The students were particularly interested in the station’s innovative power units with VVER-1200 generation “3+”. Guests were able to observe the work of Novovoronezh nuclear workers at the block control center of power unit No. 6, the central control panel; become familiar with the main technological systems and equipment. At the Training Center, students were told about the multi-stage training of Russian and foreign nuclear scientists. At the NPP Information Center, university graduates were provided with information about key Rosatom projects, the safety of Russian nuclear technologies, their application in various areas of human life, and answered students’ questions.
“Having visited the Novovoronezh NPP, we can say that we were able to imagine ourselves in the role of employees of a nuclear power plant and better understand how different processes at a nuclear power plant work. Nuclear energy is an open industry and has enormous opportunities. I want to develop further in this direction, and I hope I will get a good job,” said IATE student Nishad MD Akib Al (Bangladesh).
“I am very interested in physics and everything connected with it. I was very impressed by my visit to the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant. We saw with our own eyes everything that we studied for a long time and carefully at the institute,” said NRNU MEPhI student Sarah Jihad Fatihi Alavamleh (Jordan).

Novovoronezh NPP named after V.A. Sidorenko is the first nuclear power plant with pressurized water power reactors. She turns 60 on September 30, 2024. During this time, seven power units with VVER were built and put into operation at the Novovoronezh site. For the Voronezh region, the nuclear power plant remains the main source of electricity, supplying electricity to more than 20 large enterprises and 2.5 million residents of the region. Now at the nuclear power plant preparations have begun for the construction of power unit No. 8, which is planned to be built by 2036.
Project for the development of resource centers "Rosatom State Corporation – National Research Nuclear University MEPhI" – an initiative to create special resource centers to support the training of foreign students in nuclear specialties. At the moment, four resource centers have been created and are successfully operating in the country - in Volgodonsk, Obninsk, Moscow and Novovoronezh. In Novovoronezh, the base of the Resource Center is the Novovoronezh Polytechnic Institute of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI in partnership with the Novovoronezh NPP.
Russia is consistently developing international trade and economic relations, focusing on cooperation with friendly countries. Despite external restrictions, the domestic economy is increasing its export potential, supplying goods, services and raw materials around the world. The implementation of large international projects in the energy sector continues. The Rosatom State Corporation and its enterprises take an active part in this work.
